The Event Register — Community Standards
Effective date: November 2, 2026. These terms were approved for publication on October 31, 2026 and will be reviewed by qualified New York legal counsel. See the legal-review provision herein.
Open to emerging professionals. Reserved for real opportunities.
1. Real opportunities only
Every listing must describe genuine work with a real hiring intention behind it.
- Ready to Hire means funded, with an established intention to hire. Conditional RFP means legitimate but dependent on a condition you clearly disclose. Never present a conditional opportunity as confirmed work.
- No unpaid opportunities. No speculative listings dressed up as confirmed work. No listings that require applicants to pay to submit a proposal.
- Budgets must be stated honestly — a public budget or an approved confidential-budget designation. Inflated, placeholder, or "TBD" budgets used to attract applicants are not acceptable.
2. Honest applications
Apply only for work you can actually do. Represent your experience, credentials, insurance, staffing, and availability truthfully. A short professional description is required before your first application; portfolios, websites, and formal credentials are optional — legitimate newcomers are welcome.
Using a consistent, standardized professional summary across applications is fine. Submitting masses of irrelevant applications without reading the listings is not; posters can tell, and it may be treated as spam.
3. Honor your commitments
The Event Register connects professionals whose work depends on preparation, reliability, and trust.
If you accept an engagement, honor the agreed scope, schedule, compensation terms, and professional responsibilities. Communicate promptly if circumstances change or you become unable to fulfill a commitment.
If you hire a professional, provide accurate information, honor agreed payment terms, and communicate material changes in a timely manner.
Neither party may knowingly misrepresent availability, qualifications, authority, or their intention to fulfill an agreement.
Unexpected circumstances happen. Misrepresentation, deliberate nonperformance, fraudulent deposits, and repeated disregard for professional commitments are not acceptable.
4. Confidentiality is a condition of participation
Confidential budgets (BAQA) exist so sensitive procurements can happen on a trusted platform. If a budget is disclosed to you privately, it stays private — not shared with other applicants, not posted elsewhere, not used outside that application. Violating a confidentiality disclosure can cost you your account.
5. Communicate like a professional
Messaging is tied to opportunities and applications — use it for that purpose. Be direct, be courteous, respond in reasonable time.
Ordinary professional coordination is welcome, including moving practical logistics (scheduling calls, sharing phone numbers, arranging site visits) off the platform once a working relationship is established. What is not acceptable: spam, harassment, pressure tactics, or shifting conversations off-platform to evade platform safeguards, fees, or review.
6. What verification means — and what it doesn't
The Event Register verifies email ownership and reviews every listing for compliance before publication. "Email Verified" is the strongest account-verification claim we make — we do not label accounts "Identity Verified" and do not imply independent identity verification.
Verification is a trust signal, not an endorsement of any poster or a guarantee of any engagement. Likewise, featured placement is paid visibility, clearly labeled — it never means we vouch for the listing. We may introduce reputation indicators based on completed engagements and good standing in the future. Do your own diligence.
7. Report misconduct
If you encounter suspected fraud, nonpayment, nonperformance, misrepresentation, or other misconduct, report it through the platform's reporting tools. Reports go to an administrator for review and may lead to content removal, privilege revocation, or account suspension.
We act on misconduct that affects the integrity of the marketplace. We do not adjudicate private contractual disputes between users — those remain between the parties and their own agreements and legal remedies.
8. Enforcement
We review flagged content and accounts. Depending on what happened and whether it's a pattern: we may ask for edits, return a listing to review, remove content, revoke confidential-posting privileges, or suspend or terminate an account. Fraud, BAQA misuse, fraudulent deposits, and payment abuse are treated as serious violations. If you believe a decision was wrong, email admin@the-event-register.com and a human will review it.
9. Updates
These standards sit alongside our Terms of Service, which include provisions on listing review, verification, reporting, and enforcement. Our legal policies are periodically reviewed by counsel and may be refined over time; material changes to these standards will be published with an updated effective date (see Terms of Service, "Legal review and refinement").
